Ben Wood grew up in Arlington, Texas and graduated from Arlington High School. After high school, Mr. Wood attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana (where Steel Magnolias was filmed!) and earned a bachelor’s in music education. While attending NSU, Mr. Wood served as a section leader and was a featured soloist for the Spirit of Northwestern Marching Band. He was also a member of the NSU Jazz Band, Symphony Orchestra, Fall Winds and Wind Ensemble.
After graduating from Northwestern State, Mr. Wood taught middle school and high school band at Marksville High School in Marksville, Louisiana before moving to Fort Worth ISD. Mr. Wood taught for 3 years in Fort Worth ISD at The Young Women’s Academy and Trimble Tech High School. Mr. Wood spent the last 6 years in Crowley ISD, where he spent four years as the band director at S. H. Crowley Intermediate and the last two years as the Director of Bands at Richard Allie Middle School.
Mr. Wood currently plays 1st trumpet in the Greater Fort Worth Community Band. He is also a member of the Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Bandmasters Association.
In his spare time, Mr. Wood enjoys traveling, watching movies, and spending time with his wife, daughter, and their two dogs.
Mr. Wood is incredibly excited to be joining the Hawk Band team and can’t wait to continue the awesome things happening at Timberview Middle School!
